Allergy specialists at the Singh ENT Clinic specialize in the diagnosis and management of seasonal allergies and chronic allergies through the most advanced testing and treatment methods. These include skin endpoint titration testing, RAST blood testing, immunotherapy, and other methods. Procedures are listed in detail below.

Diagnosis and management of ear, nose and throat-related allergiesPhysicians at Singh ENT Clinic of the Hyderabad use various methods of diagnosing allergies, starting with obtaining a careful history and examination. Treatment is stepwise including: avoidance of allergens, treatments with a variety or medications including nose sprays and antihistamines and in more difficult cases immunotherapy or allergy shots. Immunotherapy requires precise diagnosis of a person’s allergic response. This is done most commonly with skin testing, or in patients who can’t tolerate skin testing (young children or adults with certain skin conditions) a blood test called RAST. Treatment of these allergies is handled with care at Ear, Nose and Throat Clinic of the Northwest, using the most advanced allergy management methods.

Skin endpoint titration testing

Skin endpoint titration testing refers to a method of testing inhalant allergies. A series of shots along one or both arms is submitted just below the skin. Then, the injections are allowed a short period to swell (no larger than a mosquito bite). The area of swelling is measured to decide on the correct dosage for immunotherapy.

RadioAllergoSorbent Test, or RAST, uses a sample of blood to mix with certain substances known to cause allergic reactions. Once mixed, the level of allergen antibodies is measured within the blood. This measurement will determine the steps taken in immunotherapy.

Plastic Surgery of the Face, Eyes and Neck

Surgeons at Singh ENT Clinic of The Hyderabad specialize in a variety of plastic surgery procedures, including scar revisions, rhinoplasty (nose job), skin cancer removal, reconstruction of the face and neck, and facelift and eyelid surgery. Procedures are listed in detail below.

Eyelid and facelift surgery

Plastic surgery techniques are available to recreate youthful appearances. An eyelid surgery will smooth and remove excess skin around the eyes, thus eliminating wrinkles and giving eyes a young appearance. During a facelift, tiny incisions are made along the top of the forehead and near the ears. Excess skin is then smoothed back and removed to give a rejuvenated look.

Scar revisions

There are several ways to treat scars, typically wide or heaped up (hypertrophic) scars are removed surgically to make them much less noticeable.

Rhinoplasty (nose job)

Rhinoplasty is any surgery that changes the shape of the nose. This may be done to repair a deformity from injury or to improve the cosmetic appearance of the nose. This might also be done to improve breathing through the nose. The procedure may take 1 to 2 hours, and in most cases will be performed at an outpatient surgical facility. The Singh ENT Clinic of the Hyderabad specializes in diagnosis and treatment of larynx (voicebox) disorders, voice restoration, laryngectomy, voice problems, breathing problems, laryngeal nodule or polyp removal, tumor removal, and the treatment of swallowing disorders. Procedures are listed in detail below.

Voice restoration

After a laryngectomy, the patient may find speech difficult. There are three main treatments that a speech therapist can teach to the patient. The first method is a voice prosthesis, which is a valve placed into the incision in the neck that was made during surgery. As the patient breathes, air is pushed from the lungs while a thumb or forefinger covers the valve, which allows for sound production. The second method is called esophageal speech, which can begin directly after surgery. Air is swallowed into the stomach, which vibrates the stomach walls, creating a low-pitched sound. After practice moving the tongue and lips while vibrating the stomach walls, it is possible to form words. The third method requires an electropharnyx, which is a portable device placed under the chin to make sound vibrations which can be formed into words. All of these methods take time and concentration to be able to restore the voice.

Laryngeal nodule or polyp removal

A laryngeal nodule can result from smoking or abuse of the voice. This nodule may not be malignant, but may ulcerate if allowed to grow. Laryngeal nodules can be removed with surgery.

Tumor removal

There are three main approaches to tumors. Surgery may be a possibility to remove the tumor. Radiation therapy can help to stop or impede the growth of the tumor. And lastly, a thorough examination by a physician may find that growth of the tumor will not reach a dangerous state while the patient is still alive. In other words, there is a possibility that the patient could outlive the tumor.

Swallowing disorders

Swallowing disorder involves any problem in passing food from inside the mouth to the stomach. This disorder could be caused by neurological disorders, a stroke, spinal or cerebral damage, or the presence of cancer. Treatment of swallowing disorder may include a change in diet, drug therapy, or in more severe situations, surgery.
